Others also say that while the recipient is having the bracelet tied on their wrist by their friend to make a wish. Traditionally, the bracelet is meant to be kept on the wrist until it's worn and disintegrates naturally. At that time the wish is supposed to come true.
Today friendship bracelets seem to be appearing on the wrists of everyone from children to adults.
I use various websites to find ideas for my bracelet patterns. All these sites have great pattern ideas, and tutorials for all the patterns ranging from easy to advanced. Some of these website include:

Here are some of my recent friendship bracelets.
First I have a set of four bracelets inspired by Harry Potter.
GRYFFINDOR: Scarlet Red and Gold ~ bravery and fairness.
HUFFLEPUFF: Yellow and Black ~ hard work, patience and loyalty.
RAVENCLAW: Blue and Bronze ~ intelligence.
SLYTHERIN: Emerald Green and Silver ~ ambition and competence.
RAVENCLAW: Blue and Bronze ~ intelligence.
SLYTHERIN: Emerald Green and Silver ~ ambition and competence.

Next I have a basic chevron pattern bracelet, in which I used 5 different shades of green and white embroidery floss to make a ombre or gradient look.
